Roll the windows down, turn the music up and leave the Salt Lake City life behind as you head towards the quirky little town of Moab – a great base to explore both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Don’t miss hiking to Delicate Arch, the park’s (and Utah’s) most recognizable arch, before heading down to Monument Valley for the best sunsets and sunrises in the land. Head back up through Capitol Reef National Park and the Escalante Staircase National Monument before ending your trip with the ultimate grand finale. Just when you think Utah couldn’t possibly get any better, Bryce and Zion National Parks prove you wrong. As you explore Bryce’s otherworldly orange hoodoos and brave the Narrows at Zion National Park you’ll be thanking me. My name is Cassey and I love to travel! I get the opportunity to do so much more because my boyfriend is in the Air Force! I have been on many trips this past year, but in July of 2016, I got the opportunity to travel from Wisconsin to California and I did so all by myself! In this post, I compare the differences between my rural living and what I experienced in the more urban setting, while he was stationed in California. Â I hope you enjoy! March 12, 2017 5:57 pmAll great suggestions for road trips. I’ve done a few of them, and parts of others (never been to Texas or Vermont). With the damaged bridge in Big Sur that is set for demolition, I’m not sure how people can travel between San Francisco and Los Angeles right now without backtracking to I5. But that’s certainly the most dramatic coastline on the Pacific.

March 12, 2017 6:18 pmI Love road trips and have done LA to SF many times (as I’m a Californian born girl!) but am seriously contemplating taking a trip to do a Big Island road trip this May since my fiancee and I want to go somewhere sunny (we”ll be living in Oregon now and it’ s rainy!!!!) but he can’t leave the country until we get special permission (we are going through the Visa process). I”ve always wanted to hike volanoes in Hawaii and I love driving due to the freedom and the ability to stop and take photos and have a picnic anywhere you please! Thanks for the post- 🙂

March 12, 2017 7:08 pmThese are amazing suggestions! The Kentucky Bourbon Trail has been on my list for ages and now you’ve given me a whole slew of other recommendations to get excited about! Texas BBQ roadtrip? Genius! I used to live in Texas and wish I thought of that at the time!

March 12, 2017 7:54 pmALL of these road trips sound so amazing! We’re hoping to enjoy the Kentucky Bourbon Trail this Spring but we may need a designated driver if we go to all of those distilleries. While we’re there we want to check out the Kentucky Derby too!

March 12, 2017 8:05 pmSadly I have done none of them yet. My USA travel has been confined to cities so far. Aussie’s often wonder why so many Americans don’t travel as much as we tend to but with all these amazing variations in one country it’s easy to see why there is less of a need to leave home. I would really like to visit some smaller towns next time I am in the USA – I think the Vermont route appeals most 🙂

March 13, 2017 10:52 amMy friend just came back from a short road trip in Utah and his pictures are AMAZING. The landscape there looks otherwordly and I’d love to see it in person. We did a very short drive in Maui on the Road to Hana and really enjoyed the beaches and waterfalls along the way. Sounds like The Big Island is the mega version of that and it’s definitely on the list when we visit!

March 18, 2017 9:48 pmThis is such a great post! Hubby and I are thinking of doing a road trip from Toronto through the States and these are such great ideas to consider. March 26, 2017 8:24 pmHi guys,
We love road trips and these are all really great ones. Some we’ve done and others are on the list. Or in the case of the KY Bourbon Trl, Tom and our son went for his 21st birthday but I had to work. So that means Tom will have to do it again lol. We’re hitting up Vermont and the other New England states this summer in the RV and we’re stoked about it. We’re looking forward to the whole trip but I think seeing Acadia NP is what we are most excited about. Thanks for sharing these great tips and Happy Travels!

April 29, 2017 8:12 pmAwesome to hear you will take the Big Island road trip. Ironically smaller in scale to stereotypical multi state “ROAD TRIP” where Joe has taken a road trip from Richmond, VA to Seattle. Not beach to beach, but you will fulfill the beach to beach road trip and a road trip none-the-less. Great review on the tactical flashlights. Keep the light on!

April 25, 2017 11:16 amWe just drove the San Francisco to LA Pacific Coast Highway and – oh my god – it was so gorgeous. Especially right now, after all that rain during the super bloom! May 12, 2017 6:46 amIt mainly depends of what kind of things you want to see and do. A road trip from the tip of Florida to Charlotte would be a big task so that would depend on how long you were going to be in the USA. If you had the time, I would start in Key West, then work your way north.
