If you have been reading the blog, you know that we recently went on a last minute road trip to Atlanta, Georgia. For efficiency in touring, we tried to see attractions in the same area of Atlanta on the same day. In this post I will give you an overall summary of how the 3 days would look all together. Click on the highlighted links to get details about each restaurant and activity.

3 Days in Atlanta

Can’t drive by without noticing The Vortex’s entrance.
Day 1 in Atlanta- Northeast Atlanta
See detailed itinerary and photographs here.
The northeast part of Atlanta is full of quirky neighborhoods and beautiful parks. No outdoor lover should miss Stone Mountain. History lovers will be in heaven at the Carter Presidential Library!
- Lodging- Hotel Indigo
- Stone Mountain
- Lunch- Mary Mac’s
- Carter Presidential Library
- Fernbank Museum of Natural History
- Dinner & Drinks- The Vortex
Day 2 in Atlanta- Centennial Park Area
See detailed itinerary and photographs here.
Some of Georgia’s most popular tourist attractions are all located surrounding Olympic Centennial Park. Centennial Park is right off of the highway in downtown Atlanta. You could easily spend an entire weekend exploring all that downtown Atlanta has to offer.
- World of Coca-Cola
- Georgia Aquarium
- CNN Studio Tour
- Skyview Atlanta

Loved seeing how the aquarium excited all of the children visiting!
Day 3 in Atlanta- Eastside
See detailed itinerary and photographs here.
On our last day in Atlanta we enjoyed two of my favorite things– history and natural. No trip to Atlanta would be complete without a visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. And I don’t care how old you are, everyone loves a good zoo!
- Breakfast- West Egg
- Zoo Atlanta
- Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site
- Dinner- The Varsity

Rhino!

February 17, 2017 12:07 amNice itinerary for quick trips to Atlanta. I especially liked your rhino photo. Reminds me of the time when I was a teenager and visited the London Zoo. I was standing on a bridge and the rhino in the enclosure walked beneath it and I was able to reach out and touch its back. I’m pretty sure I don’t remember seeing any “don’t pat the rhino” signs!

February 26, 2017 5:19 pmOh my! Things have definitely changed since I was young, too. I remember seeing a bomb arsenal on a school field trip. Now you have to have high security clearance and wear special protective clothing to get near the place.
