I am a self admitted nervous passenger. Especially when my husband is behind the wheel. I am constantly using my imaginary brake which Mike finds not a little frustrating, but VERY frustrating. So, on a recent road trip to Charleston, SC I made my home in the back seat. Equipped with a good book and some sewing projects that required hand sewing. Being engrossed in a project keeps my eyes off the road and the speedometer. It made for a much easier drive for both of us. Sincerely, Miss Daisy.
GREAT LEARNING MOMENTS!…We LOVE you guys and look forward to hearing about your not-so-perfect travels and seeing more photos of the historical, odd, unusual, and beautiful places you visit or of special souvenirs you find/buy! THANKS for sharing the useful tips to keep each other happy and loving — despite the stresses and imperfect moments that happen! These 5 mantras are helpful for any couple or family that steps out of their normal environments to spend the day TOGETHER!
These are great tips. I sometimes try to navigate and that’s usually when he knows what he’s doing so I’m learning to trust his navigational skills and if we get lost, maybe it’s just a new adventure. We will find our way again.
I see a picture of the Colosseum! We visited there last year. Stunning.
The date night point is so so so smart. My husband and I love to travel, but we start to get a little edgy unless we spend some proper quality time together (and apart) while we’re on the go.
Haha, I love this! I’m single so I travel alone but I could see how it would cross ones kind when I listen to my parents talk about their travel stories.
I guess I’m just lucky that the things I want to do, tend to be the things he wants to do! We have to get better at not just having “rest days” while on vacation but actually explore the area we are in!
We try to do a mix. Joe is very athletic (I’m not) so when he wants to do a 20 mile mountain bike ride, he goes off and does his own thing and I do mine. Then we’ll go do something together.
Love this post, and can relate to all! The compromises are Paul always has to find a bar where he can watch Football but I do always insist it has WiFi so I can be occupied too, he is also not a lover of lying on the beach but does put up with it because I love the beach! ~ Carole
Yes! Joe loves to mountain bike ride and ski, but I’d rather not fall down a mountainside! So if he wants to ride, he finds a spot for me to take pictures or read a book while he’s gone.

May 1, 2016 10:47 amWe love our trip “date nights” to take time the extra time to show each other appreciation and love. It’s a little more planning, but worth it!

May 1, 2016 11:02 pmHaha I love the title of this post! Traveling can become stressful but I agree that not expecting perfection is key to having a good trip!

May 2, 2016 4:23 amExactly! I always have these perfectionist ideas of our trips, but the unexpected detours are what the best memories are made of.
